Poor starts by Frankie, Juvic

Philippine Daily Inquirer

SINGAPORE — Juvic Pagunsan, Antonio Lascuña and Frankie Miñoza faced the grim prospect of missing the halfway cut of the $5 million Singapore Open after a struggling start in the first round that was suspended due to darkness Thursday.

Pagunsan and Lascuña both carded 3-over-par 74s while Miñoza had a 75 among the early finishers at the Serapong course of the Sentosa Golf Club.

Only Mars Pucay seemed to have a chance of posting a good score as he stayed even par after six holes when play was halted.

Angelo Que, Artemio Murakami and Louie Dacudao were all 2 over after eight, six and four holes, respectively.

Ian Poulter of England was the clubhouse leader with a 66 with Ernie Els of South Africa and qualifier Chan Yih-shin of Taipei tied for second a stroke behind.

World No. 2 Phil Mickelson was among a big group at 69.
