I HAVE FOLLOWED CLOSELY
the dialogue, reported in the Inquirer, between the urban poor (who, if they have to relocate, want in-city relocation) and the government officials (who say there is no land in the city available for them). I have a solution.
We have at least six golf courses in Metro Manila, with an overall area of about 300-400 hectares. That is enough land for 60,000-80,000 poor families at 40 sq m per family. Let the people stay in the city and let the golf courses relocate somewhere in Cavite, Laguna or Rizal.
I don’t play golf anymore for a number of reasons, but I know that my fellow golfers and I won’t mind moving, I think.
