Aguinaldo, AVGCC bets top jungolf meet

IT seemed that the boys of the visiting Aguinaldo Golf and Country Club were no strangers to the greens of the Alta Vista Golf and Country Club (AVGCC) in Pardo, Cebu City after dominating the Class A boys division of the 5th Alta Vista Jungolf Challenge, which ended yesterday.

Bino Dela Paz scored a total of 224 points on rounds of 75, 79 and 70 relegating teammates Carlos Jobim to second place and Kenneth Kano to third.

Jobim had 225 points (75, 79 and 71), while Kano totaled 239 on rounds of 78, 79 and 82.

In the distaff side, AVGCC’s Irina Gabasa took the title with 229 points (76, 77 and 76) and helped AVGCC grab the Club of the Year title.

In the Class B boys, Angelo Jose Gandionco of AVGCC topped the division with 223 points besting Keanu Jahns of Munich (236) and Aguinaldo’s Aris Mata (238).

Apple Fudolin of the Del Monte Golf and Country Club ruled the Class B girls division with 247 points relegating AVGCC’s Juily Vasandani (249) to second place and Emy Lou Tan (279) to third.

Del Monte’s J.J. Gamolo shot a two-day total of 180 points to top Boys Class C while AVGCC’s John Philip Hernandez (182) and Peter Choi (201) finished second and third respectively. AVGCC’s Rachita Vasandani bagged the girls title with 158 points while Bianca Pagdanganan (165) of Aguinaldo and Ericka Lim (167) of AVGCC took runner-up honors.

The top 3 in Boys Class D are Del Monte’s Jose Emmanuel Sajulga (162) and AVGCC’s Wei Wei Gao (169) and Shailesh Vasandani (178).

The Girls Class D winners are Cebu Country Club’s Kaye Lois Go (146); Del Monte’s Rainstar Roque (172) and Patricia Rebancos of Aguinaldo (193).

Class E winners include AVGCC’s Wei Yu Gao in the boys division and Junia Gabasa in the girls division with 80 and 91 points respectively.

Gao’s runners-up include Angelo Ballesteros of Aguinaldo (87) and AVGCC’s Jun Hyun Back (96). Gabasa, on the other hand, bested teammate Angela Mangana ( 95) and Mactan’s Johnnah Abella (105).

In the Club of the Year race, AVGCC scored a total of 115 points after five of its players ruled their respective class while Edsel Lance Tan of AVGCC ruled the Special division with a total score of 226 points.
