MANILA, Philippines ? The final drive for the overall championship begins today for front-running Alta Vista Golf and Country Club of Cebu and the only two clubs still with a chance of winning it as the 10th Sta. Lucia Golf Tour resumes at the Summit Point Golf Club course in Lipa City.
The Cebuanos are hoping to protect a three-point lead over Rancho Palos Verdes of Davao in today?s competitions at the Robert Trent Jones Jr.-designed Summit Point course.
Alta Vista, which has 85 points following a big comeback in the Visayas leg it hosted last month, is out to match the four overall titles won by Eagle Ridge, which lay third, 12 points adrift at 73.
Anything can still happen though as the Luzon leg is a two-part series that includes tomorrow?s conclusion at Eagle Ridge.
?It has always been a climactic ending and looking at the scores after the second leg, we expect the same this weekend,? said executive committee co-chair Vicente Santos.
