RP eyes more Asian Martial Arts medals

BANGKOK — After winning its firsat gold, Team Philippines guns for more medals when action in the 1st Asian Martial Arts Games resumes Friday at the Indoor Stadium Huamark here.

Filipino bets in muay, already assured of five bronze medals, has one gold medal aspirant in Zaidi Laruan, who advanced to the men’s lightweight finals after beating Van Dai Vo of Vietnam in the semifinals.

Unheralded Jeff Figueroa delivered the country’s first gold medal after clobbering Rezai Hasan of Afghanistan, 10-7, in the finals of the men’s bantamweight taekwondo competition Wednesday.
