TWO MARTIAL arts groups introduced their styles together during the weekly SCOOP forum at the Baseline Sports and Recreation Center yesterday.
Officials of the World Eskrima-Kali-Arnis Federation (Wekaf) and the Tetada Kalimasada Martial Arts Organization were at the spotlight as both groups showcased their techniques to different members of the Cebu sports media.
Present during the forum was WEKAF president and Grand Master Dionisio Canete and his son Gerald and TETADA's Silvano Maranga.
Leaders of the two groups agreed that their martial arts have many things in common.
"We have similarities with eskrima, that is the discipline and art," Maranga said.
GM Canete also said the proper way of executing their moves and skills and the dedication of the martial arts make them very similar to each other.
The only difference is that TETADA is not considered as a form of a competitive sport and is only limited to few persons.
18 countries are now members of the TETADA Kalimasada. TETADA's expansion to India and Malaysia aims to draw more practitioners.
