AUTOCROSS king David G. Lim of the DGL Motorsports started his year with a bang as he dominated the 1st leg of the Kartzone Autocross Series held recently at the Kartzone tracks in brgy. Panagdait, Mabolo.
DGL, using his vaunted Honda CRXs, emerged overall champion in the race and logged the best time of 1:16.453.
He also won the titles in the expert open, expert modified lite and expert super street heavy classes.
Finishing second to DGL, the 2009 Philippine Autocross Championship series Cebu Driver of the Year and Regional Driver of the Year, was Derek Arculli with a time of 1.16.781. Rafa Miranda wound up third with a time of 1.16.891.
Arculli also finished second to DGL in the expert open class while Jess Garcia finished third.
Randy Paray settled for runner-up honors in the expert modified lite class as Garcia wound up third.
In the expert super street heavy class, DGL was trailed by Alfred Yap and teammate, Mato Tan.
DGL?s son, the promising David Lim, Jr., followed suit as he topped the novice super street heavy class.
The younger Lim, who was named Rookie of the Year in the 2009 Philippine Autocross Championship series, was followed by veteran racer Neil Labrador and Cholo Mendoza.
The father-and-son tandem are gearing up for another action-packed race this weekend when they compete in another autocross event at the Parkmall in Mandaue City. Copy Editor Brian J. Ochoa
