Stefano eyes back-to-back KF2 triumph

Philippine Daily Inquirer

TWO-TIME KARTING CHAMPION Stefano Marcelo of San Miguel Corporation-Maranello-Marcelo Racing seeks a back-to-back KF2 crown in the 2010 Pagcor Sports KF2-KF3 Cup Series set Sunday at the Carmona Racetrack.

With two wins in the past two legs, Marcelo hopes to fortify his grip of solo lead via a sweep of Races 5 and 6 to get the title in the bag.

The 17-year-old Marcelo is keen on capturing a third Karter of the Year award to equal the feats of his great predecessors Edgen Dy-Liacco and Pepon Marave .

Marcelo, back with his previous team brand Maranello Racing Karts, swept the time trials, the qualifying heat, the Pre-Final and the Final Race of the season opener of the 2010 Magnolia Purewater Karting Super Series.

Marcelo?s planning to complement his karting championship campaign with circuit car racing as he?s set to join the Toyota Yaris Cup organized by RP Motorsports godfather Johnny Tan next month.

With his busy schedule in the local motorsports scene, European karting will have to take a back seat as Marcelo also plans to pursue a bachelor?s degree in law.

?Racing abroad will have to wait for now as there are other big tasks ahead of me," said Marcelo.
