THE ANNUAL Bike and Run For Freedom 2009 will kick off this coming Independence Day, June 12 at the Sugbo area near the Cebu City Hall and Plaza Independencia grounds.

The event is intended to raise funds for the young Cebuano underprivileged boxers and the Tsinelas foundation, which is currently helping 150 students in high school and elementary.

The Independence Day event is organized by Cool Dimensions Events and Tours Philippines headed by general manager Jacqueline S. Siwala together with Phoenix Productions Unlimited with the cooperation of the Cebu City Sports Commission headed by Gene Faelnar.

The main purpose of the event is to give Cebuano sports enthusiasts a venue to show their skill and stamina in cycling and running with different categories.

The whole-day event will kick off with a Fun Bike and Fun Run in the morning. The organizers are also planning to hold a mini concert for the awarding ceremony in front of the Sugbo Building at the South Road Properties (SRP).

Registration fee is pegged at P200 both for run and bike. The registration area is located at the office of the Cebu City Sports Commission.

Deadline for submission of entries is on June 8 and the first 600 participants will be given free jerseys./Correspondent Dale Rosal
