CEBUANO Dr. Potenciano ?Yong? Larrazabal III will lead the 30-man Larrazabal Eye-St. James Team that will compete in the 42K division of the Cebu City Marathon tomorrow at the South Road Properties (SRP).

Dr. Larrazabal will be joined by colleagues Dr. Peter Mancao and James Abilla in what is expected to be the biggest contingent in the 42k division.

The group will be composed mostly of Philippine National Police (PNP) Regional Training School trainees.

After breaking his personal record in the recent Macau Galaxy Entertainment International Marathon (3 hours, 49 minutes and 48 seconds), Larrazabal is confident he will cross the finish line with ease.

Larrazabal said he is planning to run five more marathons this year, culminating in Singapore, where he hopes to run at least a 3:20 to qualify and reach his goal to run in the Boston Marathon.

Larrazabal also competed in the recent Milo Marathon, Pasig International Marathon and New York Marathon last 2007, Hong Kong Marathon and Chicago Marathon last year.

The contingent, which is eyeing to finish the race in five hours and 30 minutes, will be sponsored by the Larrazabal Eye Group, Kinvara Corporation and Agua Azul Bandian Beach Resort.

Meanwhile, as of latest count, the participants to this Sunday?s race has already reached a whopping 3,750 runners.

Of this total, 500 are running the full 42-kilometer marathon, 650 are competing in the 21K race while 2,600 are entered in the 5K fun run.
