Quota 12k Run fires off today

By Dale Rosal
Cebu Daily News

Some 1,200 runners will take part in the first ever Quota Incorporated International 12k Classic Fund Raising Fun Run today at the Cebu Business Park.

Among the top bets in the race will be Simon Losiaboi, who is seeking redemption after suffering his first loss in Cebu during the Rotary Run at the SM City Cebu.

The multi-titled Kenyan runner finished the Rotary Run first but got disqualified for using the wrong race number.

Because of this, Losiaboi got his race number for this race early yesterday.

Mary Grace Delos Santos will lead the all-star cast of elite runners in the women?s side.

Others big names expected to vie in the race are John Philip Duenas, Mary Joy Tabal of the Southwestern University (SWU), Elmer Bartolo, among others.

Today's running event is headed by Quota International of Talisay, an internationally-acclaimed organization for women headed by June Francis Chiongbian.

This is the first time that they?re hosting a fun run as part of the organization?s annual project every February. The beneficiaries of the fund raising run will be the blind, mute and deaf children of Talisay City.
