After the disappointing outcome of his previous race, Kenyan Simon Losiaboi pulled himself back on top of the podium.
Losiaboi redeemed himself from a disqualification by dominating the first-ever Quota Incorporated International 12k Classic Fund-Raising Fun Run yesterday at the Cebu Business Park.
Losiaboi, who finished first in the Rotary Run held last month but was disqualified for wearing a wrong race number, topped the competition with ease, finishing the men?s race in 39 minutes and 37 seconds.
"I am very happy right now because the race went well. Unlike my previous race, I did not feel being cheated this time," said Losiaboi, who gave credit to the organizing crew for a smoothly ran race.
The win put Losiaboi at the spotlight of the local running scene anew. And he understands that with that feat, he is surely the main target of other runners.
He said he can be defeated and the best way to do that is for others to practice hard to improve their performance.
Losiaboi has already ran in 14 other countries, giving him a huge advantage in experience.
Elmer Bartolo placed second with a time of 41 minutes and five seconds followed by Jobert Carolino (42 minutes and 13 seconds.)
Mary Grace Delos Santos topped the women's division after coming up with a time of 48 minutes and 29 seconds.
Madelyn Carter finished second with 50 minutes and 21 seconds while Joeyry Lee wound up third (55 minutes and 16 seconds.)
Reprenel Banzon and Mary Joy Tabal grabbed top honors 6k category men?s and women?s categories, respectively.
