MANILA, Philippines?The Women?s National Collegiate Athletic Association (WNCAA) National Championship Games start Thursday at the University of Perpetual Help in Biñan, Laguna, with all eyes firmly on powerhouse Lyceum.
Lyceum claimed its fourth straight basketball crown and 10th consecutive volleyball title last year and will carry the National Capital Region colors with fellow dual titlist University of Asia and the Pacific, which saw action in Senior B of the 40th WNCAA season.
Other competing schools in the four-day basketball and volleyball tournament are Bicol?s University of Sta. Isabel and Ateneo de Naga University, Central Luzon?s Tarlac State University and Lyceum Subic and host Perpetual as Calabarzon representative.
Other winners in the 40th WNCAA include St. Scholastica?s College (junior volleyball), San Beda-Alabang (midgets volleyball), Miriam College (junior basketball), Philippine Women?s University (senior futsal), De La Salle Zobel (junior futsal), La Salle College (midgets and junior badminton and junior table tennis) and Rizal Technological University (senior badminton and table tennis).
The cheerleading competition for all three divisions will be held on Feb. 20 at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium in Manila.
