MANILA, Philippines?The men?s and women?s volleyball teams of University of Santo Tomas moved to within a win each of ruling the 72nd UAAP season after posting convincing victories yesterday at the FilOil Flying V Arena in San Juan City.
The defending champion Tigers needed just one hour and 19 minutes to turn back the Far Eastern University Tamaraws, 25-20, 25-22, 25-22.
John Paul Torres and Hendry Pecaña paced the Tigers with a combined 34 hits, outplaying FEU duo Nestor Molate and Joshua Alcarde who could only come up with 28.
In the women?s finals, the Tigresses recovered from an opening-set loss to down last year?s winner De La Salle University Lady Archers, 24-26, 25-23, 25-16, 25-21.
