PCU, San Beda tossers stun tough Petron foes

DASMARIÑAS, CAVITE?Philippine Christian University-Dasmariñas and San Beda-Alabang surprised their heavily favored rivals Thursday at the start of the 2010 Petron Ladies? Beach Volleyball tournament?s first leg here.

Anna Alicia Adolfo and Alyanna Marie Gorospe downed University of the East?s Francesca Crescini and Aimee de la Peña, 21-9, at the De La Salle-Health and Sciences Institute sand court.

Adolfo and Gorospe then struck again, this time against Philippine Women?s University?s Suzanne Navarro and Lucille Pael, 21-8, in this event supported by Mikasa and Speedo.

Nicole de la Cruz and Anna Carissa Villablanca of San Beda-Alabang upset the experienced pair of Asia Urquico and Jessica Morado of Ateneo de Manila University, 27-25.

The University of the East duo of Mary Ann Balmaceda and Jessica Paron routed PSBA?s Dyrene Rose Benecio and Joan Morata, 21-7. The Philippine School of Business Administration bets also bowed to Joy de Imus Imus and Melanie Lumanlan of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines.

Ateneo?s Sharah So and Khry-zette Onishi bested SBC?s Jaymee Yap and Joan Castillo, 21-19.
