Japanese rule RP dance sport event

MANILA, Philippines - Japanese dance athletes displayed flawless dancing skills to rule the recent International Dance Sport Federation Asian Championships and 3rd Manila IDSF Open at Isla Grand Ballroom of the Edsa Shangri-La hotel.

The Japanese pair of Yumiya Kubota-Rara Kubota came away with the gold in the Latin discipline of the IDSF Asian event while compatriots Masayuki Ishihara-Ayami Kubo tandem topped the Standard category of the 3rd Manila Open.

Filipinos Ronnie Steeve Vergara and Charlea Lagaras bagged the silver medal in the Latin division of the IDSF Asian competition held under the aegis of the Dance Sport Council of the Philippines.

The events were organized by DSCP president Becky Garcia and the Philippine Reclamation Authority headed by general manager Andrea Domingo.

IDSF president Carlos Freitag and wife Evelyn from Spain headed the special guests that also included Domingo, Tourism Undersecretary Cynthia Carrion, Rep. Rene Velarde, PSC commissioner Eric Loretizo, the DSCP board led by lawyer Noel Laman and IDSF adjudicators headed by chair Keiji Ukai of Japan.
