NEW CHAMPIONS emerged in the 10K open categories of the 4th Cebu Doctors? University (CDU) Run yesterday at the CDU Campus at North Reclamtion Area in Mandaue City.

Riez Enriquez capitalized on the absence of defending champion Elmer Bartolo to bag the men's open division crown behind a title-clinching time of 31 minutes and 22 seconds.

It was however a tough grind for Enriquez as first runner-up finisher Eugene Delposo was just 20 seconds behind with 31:42.

In the women's division, Zamboanga's Mary Grace de los Santos stole the crown from defending champion Madelyn Carter by finishing the race in 35 minutes and five seconds.

The contest was not even close as Carter reached the finish line in 42 minutes and 50 seconds.

Singer/actress Donna Cruz had a decent performance after she finished third with 48:48.

Cruz's husband, Dr. Yong Larrazabal III, was crowned champion in the 10K men's doctors category with 41:42. Dr. Emily Estrada ruled the 10K women's doctors category with 54:51.

Completing the winners were Rose Lanticse (5K women's-students), Dale Bercede (5K men's-students), Charlie Berberio (5K men's- employees), Sydney Mabatid (5K women's-employees), Robert Daang (5K men's-open) and Joeyry Lee (5K women's-open).
