Monico Cup tees off

MANILA, Philippines ? About 200 players are seeing action in the 7th Monico Cup MassKara golf tournament that teed off yesterday at the Negros Occidental Golf and Country Club in Bacolod City.

The two-day event, a project of the Rotary Club of Bacolod South, aims to raise funds for victims of tropical storm ?Ondoy? and typhoon ?Pepeng? as well as the club?s other projects.

Bacolod Representative Monico Puentevella said that the funds raised for the storm victims would be coursed through the Philippine Sportswriters Association, headed by president Teddyvic Melendres.

The awarding for the winners from classes A to C, senior and ladies division will be handed out tonight at the NOGCC.

Participating in the tournament were business executives Paulino Soon, Sonny Go and William Lim of Stradcom, Aujie Palisoc of Metro Pacific, Terry Capistrano of K-Lines, Fidel Fuentes of Pagcor Casino Pilipino, Masahiko Ueki, Tatsuya Wada, Taizo Furuwashi and Marco Medina of Mitsubishi Motors Philippines.

Backing the event were Mitsubishi, Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific, PLDT/Smart, Globe Telecom, Hanjin, K-Line, Cats Philippines, Manila North Tollways, PGA Cars, PCSO, Department of Transportation and Communication, Tanduay, Nestle Philippines, Zest Air, Stradcom, Friends of Monico, Intellicare, Inkmaxx, Nig Marketing, Pepsi, Riverside Medical center, Metro Orix Corp., C.H.E.E.R.S. Foundation and Business Inn.
