OVER A HUNDRED RACERS VIE for the crown in the 2nd Anvaya Cove Invitational Triathlon on Sunday at the picturesque Anvaya Cove Beach and Nature Club in Bataan.

The 1K swim-30K bike-6K run sprint race, which fires off at 6 a.m., will wrap up this year?s triathlon season.

Canadian David Verlee and Filipino Mt. Everest conqueror Carina Dayondon emerged as last year?s inaugural champions of the race organized by the Triathlon Association of the Philippines.

Competitors expect another highly technical race at the sprawling 320-hectare first-class resort owned by triathlete Fernando Zobel de Ayala.

A three-loop bike leg featuring paved tracks and a hilly three-kilometer stretch follows the open swim in the beach resort set against a mountain backdrop.

The final run will also be a tree-lined, three-loop course featuring a view of the resort?s scenic Seaside Villas.

The race briefing and pasta dinner of the event supported by the Philippine Sports Commission is set tomorrow.

The elite competition will start simultaneously with the age group categories early the next day, while the three-division Super Tri-Kids for racers aged 9 to 15 gets going at 3 p.m.

Medals and finisher shirts will be given to the top three racers in each category during the awarding ceremony and dinner party at 6 p.m.

Race organizers said the event will be limited to 120 triathletes. Anvaya Cove members and Trap ID holders will also be prioritized.
