Classy Kenyans rule Condura Run

MANILA, Philippines?Kenyan runners again showed up the local competition, topping both the men?s and women?s divisions of the Condura Run for the Dolphins marathon which started and ended at the Global City in Taguig City Sunday.

Men?s winner David Kipsang clocked two hours, 38 minutes and two seconds while female champion Peris Poywo timed 3:16:48, more than a minute clear of compatriot Susan Chemutai (3:19:52). The winners pocketed P60,000 each and the second placer P40,000.

The Condura race, which was also ran along the Skyway, is the first 42K race in Metro Manila this year.

Kipsang, who has been in the country for the last three months, managed to shake off siblings Cresenciano and Elmer Sabal only in the final 4 km.

Elmer eventually lost by three seconds. Three-time Milo Marathon winner Cresenciano was third in 2:39:40.

Luisa Yambao-Raterta timed 3:20:39 for third place in the women?s side.

The men?s 21K topnotchers were Eric Panique (1:12:53), Alquin Bolivar (1:12:54) and Alley Quisay (1:12:55) while the women?s top three were Marecil Maquilan (1:30:59), Nhea Ann Barcena (1:39:38) and Jacqueline Rohbach (1:44:43).

Willy Tanui (32:21) and Mercedita M. Fetalvero (38:39) topped the 10K. Romina S. Austria
