Alabang ladies keep tight grip on Fed League lead

MANILA, Philippines?Alabang leaned on a strong performance on its home course to down defending champion Orchard and stay on top after Round 4 of the 2010 Ladies Federation League matches in various courses recently.

The Alabang ladies were held to a 2-2 draw at Orchard but regrouped to post a 3.5-.5 win in their hosting turn to boost their total to 9 points in four games on three wins and a draw.

Sta. Elena edged Riviera in their own duel, 4.5-3.5, to move up to second place at 5 points with a 2-1-1 win-loss-draw record, just a point up on Highlands which has yet to complete its tie with Manila Southwoods.

Sta. Elena held Riviera to a draw in an away game before taking a 2.5-1.5 decision at home in the weekly matches organized by the Federation of Golf Clubs Philippines, Inc.

Host Highlands and Southwoods battled to a 2-2 tie which they will break today in Carmona, Cavite.

Alabang recovered from the brink of defeat and salvaged the draw against Orchard by taking the greensome format, 2 up.

Highlands is set to play Sta. Elena in rounds five and six. Riviera collides with Alabang and Orchard squares off with Manila Southwoods.
