Philippine Daily Inquirer

MANILA, Philippines? The suspense in the appointment of a new chair in the Philippine Sports Commission is expected to end either ?later this week or early next week.?

President Benigno Aquino III has already signed the appointment papers of the next chair and the four new commissioners of the government sports agency, according to Presidential spokesperson Edwin Lacierda Monday.

?The PSC appointment papers were among those signed by the President over the weekend and they are expected to be released either late this week or early next week,? Lacierda added.

Former PSC commissioner Richie Garcia, who was endorsed by Philippine Olympic Committee president and Aquino?s uncle, Jose ?Peping? Cojuangco, to succeed PSC chair Harry Angping, said nothing is official so far.

?I haven?t received anything yet,? said Garcia. ?Nobody has called me yet.?

Cojuangco, together with Garcia, PSC commissioner Akiko Thomson and former tennis chief Buddy Andrada met with Executive Secretary Paquito ?Jojo? Ochoa at Malacañang two weeks ago.

Cojuangco reportedly also endorsed former basketball star Chito Loyzaga and Little League Philippines? Jolly Gomez as commissioners. Cedelf P. Tupas
