One more gold might yet be counted for the Philippines in the 2011 Southeast Asian Games.
This possibility cropped up after two medal-winning athletes from Malaysia failed their doping tests, one of them a member of the 4X400-meter relay team that beat the Filipino squad for the gold medal, according to a wire report quoting an article from the newspaper The New Straits Times.

But it might not be the one Philippine Sports Commission chair Richie Garcia had in mind.
While the longtime PSC official said he agreed that the sports body may have outlived its usefulness and that it should be abolished in favor of a cabinet-level body, speculations were rife that he may be very well on the way out.

Senator Antonio Trillanes IV will sponsor a bill seeking to abolish the Philippine Sports Commission and replace the sports-funding agency with a cabinet-level government office answerable only to the Office of the President.
Trillanes called for the establishment of a department for sports whose top official would enjoy the same rank as the other secretaries of the cabinet.
