Tim Hardaway Jr. scored 16 points as the New York Knicks, playing without the injured Carmelo Anthony, beat the Brooklyn Nets 109-98 on Tuesday to win the season series between city rivals.

Aldridge powers Blazers past Nuggets

Portland’s LaMarcus Aldridge had a career-high 44 points and 13 rebounds to power the Trail Blazers to a 110-105 win over Denver on Thursday, moving them within a game of the National Basketball Association Western Conference lead.

The starless Denver Nuggets just lost their biggest name on the bench. George Karl was ousted Thursday less than a month after winning the NBA’s Coach of the Year award. His tenure with the Nuggets is over after 8 1/2 seasons.
