TIM Cone is relishing every moment he’s been with B-Meg so far. “I’m still not used to it whenever the coliseum goes crazy after a big shot,” Cone said after taking Game 3 for a 2-1 lead in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup title series Friday night against Talk ‘N Text.

Their career paths have crisscrossed at so many points that one of these days, it will be tough to think of one without the other. Chot Reyes started out his coaching career under Tim Cone. But their eventual separation even strengthened their links.

Tim Cone continues charting B-Meg’s—and his own—journey to greatness

It almost seemed early on that B-Meg coach Tim Cone had slipped in his post-game interview, when he casually mentioned that he was excited to “go up against [Talk ‘N Text coach] Chot [Reyes]” in the championship series—a day before the Texters were to face the Barako Bull Energy in a knockout match for the other Finals slot.

Fiery B-Meg holds off Alaska, stays at No. 2

For a squad loaded with so much high-scoring personnel, B-Meg certainly sent out a strong defensive message last night. The Llamados clamped down hard on Alaska to forge a 90-75 victory—keyed in large part by holding the Aces to eight second-quarter points—and more or less assured themselves of advancing to the playoffs of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup.

Yap, Barroca help B-Meg duplicate over Alaska

James Yap found his range when B-Meg Derby Ace needed it, carrying the Llamados to an energy-sapping 92-89 double overtime win against the Alaska Aces Sunday night in the 2011 PBA Philippine Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The two-time MVP drilled in all of his four attempts from the field in the second extension period while rookie Mark Barroca had several brilliant moments of his own, filling in the shoes of Peter June Simon on helping the Llamados duplicate over the Aces.
