LOU DANIELLA Uy and Nicole Abelar produced two big victories in the San Diego Junior Masters on Thursday (Friday local time) as Team Philippines wrapped up final preparations for next week’s Callaway Junior World meet.
Uy went wire-to-wire in winning the girls 11-12 years old category, closing out with a 75 for 148 and a three-shot win over Haley Moore while Abelar led a 1-2 RP finish in the girls 7-8 years category after a nine-hole effort of 33 for 69.
Abelar beat the favored Bernice Olivarez-Ilas, who scored a 35, by three shots.
The victories of Uy and Abelar made up for the heartbreaking playoff loss of Tabuena in the boys 13-14 years last Tuesday.
Rupert Saragoza, who led the boys 11-12 after Round 1, fumbled with a 77-146 and settled for fourth, the same finish posted by Princess Superal (81-155) in the division won by Uy.
Pauline del Rosario and Mia Legaspi shared third place in the girls 9-10. Del Rosario turned in a 33 while Legaspi made 34 for similar 18-hole scores of 70, two shots off the winner.
