MANILA, Philippines – (UPDATE) San Beda College secured a tie for the top spot with Colegio de San Juan de Letran as they routed defending champions San Sebastian College, 101-80, at the Arena in San Juan.

Al Gotladera topscored with 20 points for the Red Cubs, who are tied at 17 wins and one loss with the Squires.

The Staglets failed to break the tight defense put up by the Red Cubs, who tallied 30 assists, 15 fastbreaks, and 26 defensive rebounds.

"Medyo na-conscious sila sa camera pero mabuti na rin na-televised ngayon para masanay na sila sa camera sa playoffs," said Red Cubs coach Ato Badolato.

Badolato said that his team should keep their consistent plays and good momentum as they drew closer to the playoffs.

"There are still players who need to improve on their shooting like [John] Monteclaro and [Dave] Moralde," added Badolato.

The Red Cubs are aiming to snatch the top rank as they face the Squires in a rubber match on Ocober 14, Wednesday at 2pm.

"We'll try to stop [Letran's Glenn] Khobuntin from rebounding and [Jarelan Tampus from shooting," disclosed Badolato.
