Carlos Yulo is one of the athletes looked upon to deliver a medal for Team Philippines in the Paris Olympics 2024.

With four Filipino athletes vying for medals in the Paris Olympics 2024 gymnastics events, Inquirer Sports breaks down how they could fare in the Summer Games.

Below are everything you need to know for Carlos Yulo, Aleah Finnegan, Levi Jung-Ruivivar and Emma Malabuyo’s trip to the French capital.

WHEN AND WHERE ARE THE EVENTS

From July 27 to Aug. 5, gymnasts will compete at Bercy Arena for all the events.

BASICS OF THE SPORT

The men’s gymnasts will be competing on six apparatus: floor, pommel horse, rings, vault, parallel bars and horizontal bars.

Meanwhile, the women will compete on four: vault, asymmetric bars, balance beam and floor.

Qualification rounds decide who moves on to the team, individual all-around and individual apparatus finals, with eight teams advancing to the finals.

HOW MANY MEDALS ARE AT STAKE IN PARIS?

14 medals will be up for grabs in the Paris Olympics.

Two medals will be determined from team events. The other 12 will be competed for individually.

PLAYERS TO WATCH FOR TEAM PHILIPPINES

Household name Yulo will be competing after a tremendous outing in the 2024 Asian Artistic Gymnastics Championship.

The two-time world champion is widely regarded as one of the favorites to land a medal, possibly gold, in the Summer Games.

Filipino gymnasts Emma Malabuyo, Aleah Finnegan, and Levi Jung-Ruivivar gear up for the Paris Olympics 2024 competition.

Finnegan will also get a chance to shine after her gold-medal run in the US NCAA with Louisiana State University.

Eighteen-year-old Jung-Ruivivar, one of the youngest for Team Philippines, will also showcase her talents after a silver-medal win in the 2024 Doha World Cup for the uneven bars events.

Malabuyo, who also showed out in the Asian Artistics Gymnastics Championship, will also be a gymnast to look out for.
