Paris Olympics: Quick exit anew for Kiyomi Watanabe

MANILA, Philippines—China’s Tang Jing quickly repulsed any hopes for a Team Philippines medal finish in the women’s judo competition at the Paris Olympics 2024.
In the women’s -63kg elimination round of 32, Tang quickly disposed of Filipino bet Kiyomi Watanabe with an ippon at Champ-de-Mars Arena in Paris on Tuesday afternoon (Manila time).
Article continues after this advertisementIn a show of strength, Tang needed just 51 seconds to end Watanabe’s campaign at the Paris Olympics.

Watanabe suffered back-to-back quick exits in the Summer Games after she lasted only 38 seconds in her opening match in Tokyo three years ago.
Watanabe entered the competition ranked 92 while Tang was in the upper echelon of women judokas as the 22nd-ranked athlete.
