PVL: Capital1 gets back on track ahead of quarterfinals

MANILA, Philippines–Marina Tushova returned to her lethal form to carry Capital1 back to its winning ways in the PVL Reinforced Conference on Tuesday at FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City.

After being limited by Farm Fresh in Capital1’s previous game, Tushova helped the Solar Spikers cap off their preliminary assignments with 35 points built on 31 attacks, three aces and a block to defeat also-rn Galeries Tower, 25-13, 26-28, 25-22, 25-21.

The locals also contributed such as Des Clemente who finished with 14 points from 11 attacks and three blocks and captain Jorelle Singh 10 points including two aces. Iris Tolenada continued to be a leader inside with 24 excellent sets.

“Sobrang proud po ako sa team namin kasi nagtulong tulong talaga kami yung locals nag-step up lahat. Sobrang nakaka-proud po,” Singh said.

“Last game kasi medyo di ganun ka okay yung performance ko so gusto kong bumawi simula next game hanggang sa mga susunod pa namin na games,” Clemente said.

Tushova also caught 19 excellent receptions to blunt the service game of the Highrisers. Leila Cruz only had nine points but was effective in defense with 15 excellent digs.

Capital1 will move on to its first-ever quarterfinals appearance with a 5-3 record.

Chuewulim Sutadta paced the Highrisers with 22 points as Galeries Tower ended the import-laden conference without a win in eight games.

Rookie Jewel Encarnacion produced her best game, however, with 19 points while Roselle Baliton added 11 as Renee Mabilangan tossed 18 excellent sets.
