MANILA, Philippines – La Salle thrived in the open court, making it hard for Emilio Aguinaldo College to keep up all game, en route to a 91-63 win on Friday in the 2013 Filoil Flying V Hanes Premier Cup.

The Green Archers set the tempo of the game from the get-go and notched 22 fastbreak points, taking advantage of the Generals’ who were just a step too slow.

The biggest advantage reached 28 points on a fastbreak layup by rookie Kib Montalbo.

La Salle kept its unbeaten slate at 5-0 in group B in another dominating fashion, but coach Gee Abanilla reminded his players that it went beyond that.

“There’s always pressure. This preseason is not all about winning, it’s all about improving yourselves,” said Abanilla after the game.

The Green Archers were not just all about running, though, as Jason Perkins, their gem of a big man, terrorized the pain and dropped 20 points to lead all scorers. He also added 11 boards.

Jeron Teng added 11 while Norbert Torres and Oda Tampus had 10 each.

EAC had several runs in the game but it was not enough to keep them truly competitive, although the Generals were able to put the lead down to 8 at one point.

The lone bright spot for the Generals, though, was the return of burly Cameroonian import Nobue Happi, who had 14 points and 10 rebounds.
