LA Tenorio named BPC; Rob Dozier bags Bobby Parks award

MANILA, Philippines — Barangay Ginebra San Miguel point guard LA Tenorio was named Best Player of the Conference while Alaska import Rob Dozier bagged the Bobby Parks award Sunday before the opening tip of Game 3 of the Kings-Aces best-of-five title series at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Tenorio, who is averaging 13.8 points, 5.0 rebounds, 5.1 assists and 1.9 steals per game, got a total of 1125 points.

Alaska forward Calvin Abueva, who fell short of becoming just the first rookie to win the award since Erik Menk and Danny Seigle won in 1999, came in second with 861 points.

Abueva’s teammate JVee Casio followed with 514 points while Talk ‘N Text’s Jayson Castro and GlobalPort’s Gary David wound up in fourth and fifth respectively.

Dozier, who posted 15 points and 20 rebounds in Game 2 to bring his team on the threshold of its 14th championship in franchise history, collected 1233 total points while the Kings’ versatile import Vernon Macklin finished in second with 933 points.

San Mig Coffee’s Denzel Bowles came in third place while the Tropang Texters’ Tony Mitchell ended up in fourth.
