SMB battles Sports Rev

San Miguel Beer may have swept Sports Rev Thailand in the eliminations, but all four wins didn’t come easy.

So the Beermen expect more of the same although they will be with their ace guard Chris Banchero  when they battle the Slammers at the start of their Asean Basketball League (ABL) best-of-five semifinal series tonight.

“Thailand was a hard team to play all season,” said San Miguel import Brian Williams. “It has been tough.”

Game 1 of the best-of-five series is set at 8 p.m. at Ynares Sports Center in Antipolo City with the Beermen parading Banchero, who was out for one month due to an injury.

“It’s like he never left and he never had an injury,” said San Miguel coach Leo Austria. “He’s moving very well.”

Defending champion Indonesia takes on Westports Malaysia in the other semifinal pairing at 7 p.m. tomorrow at Mahaka Square in Jakarta.
