Tams, Tigers favored over foes

Far Eastern University and University of Santo Tomas seek to boost their quarterfinal bids when they clash with NCAA squads today in the Filoil Flying V Hanes Premier Cup at Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.

The Tamaraws look to rebound against St. Benilde at 4:15 p.m. while the Tigers battle the Lyceum Pirates in the first game at 12:45 p.m.

Adamson and winless University of the Philippines square off in the 2:30 pm duel. The Falcons have blown hot and cold in the tournament, beating FEU, but bowing to Arellano and National U.

FEU hopes to bounce back from a 75-83 loss to San Beda last Saturday.

But unlike the duel against the Lions where they struggled to contain Ola Adeogun, the Tamaraws won’t have to deal with a formidable big man against the guard-laden Blazers.

The Tamaraws can also take encouragement from the performance of guard RR Garcia who tallied 23 points against the Lions.

The tournament is presented by Hanes and Vulcaseal/Bostick and also backed by Master Facial Wash, Starmobile, Meralco, and San Mig Coffee.
