Huey-Inglot reaches Dusseldorf semifinals
TREAT Huey and British partner Dominic Inglot posted a straight-set victory over Daniel Brands of Germany and Igor Sijsling of Netherlands, 7-6 (7-4), 6-4, Thurday to reach the men’s doubles semifinals of the Power Horse Cup ATP 250 in Dusseldorf, Germany.
The third-seeded Huey and Inglot, who won two tournaments last year in top-level competitions, will next clash with British top seeds Colin Fleming and Jonathan Marray, who defeated the pair of Dustin Brown and Frank Moser, 7-5, 6-3, in this warmup event for the French Open.
Article continues after this advertisementColliding in the other semifinal are fourth seeds Frederik Nielsen of Denmark and Andre Sa of Brazil, and hometown aces Andre Begemann and Martin Emmrich.

Thais survive Malditas in Women’s Asian Cup
Article continues after this advertisementTHE PHILIPPINE Malditas absorbed a narrow 1-0 loss to powerhouse Thailand Thursday night, putting the Filipinos’ bid of advancing in the AFC Women’s Asian Cup in jeopardy in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
The Thais had beaten the Malditas, 5-1, in their previous meeting last year in Myanmar, but they were given all that they could handle by a stubborn and threatening Filipino side which refused to give up until the end.
The Malditas must win over Bangladesh on Sunday and hope that Iran, a team they beat, 6-0, at the start of the tournament, pull off the unthinkable by beating Thailand in its last assignment to stand a chance of qualifying from the group.
