UFL: Green Archers blank Pasargad

CAPITALIZING on its pace up front, Green Archers United blanked Pasargad, 3-0, Sunday night and climbed to sixth spot—its highest position this season—in the United Football League at Emperador Stadium in Taguig City.

Fleet-footed forwards Chieffy Caligdong, Jess Melliza and Tating Pasilan were all on target for the Green Archers, who secured their third straight victory to leapfrog past their victims.

Caligdong, the Filipino international, who transferred from Air Force at the start of the season, scored his seventh goal for the Archers in the 32nd minute, before Melliza doubled the tally 10 minutes later.

The team’s leading scorer last season, Pasilan, who has battled injuries since the first round, shattered his scoring drought just before halftime.

It was the Green Archers’ fifth win of the season, all but assuring them of staying in the first division next season. Cedelf P. Tupas
