PBA close to tapping new Indonesian coach

THE PHILIPPINE Badminton Association is close to finding a replacement for the  high-caliber, high-priced Indonesian coach Rexy Mainaky, who was recently pulled out by his country despite a live multimillion-peso contract to handle the national team.  PBA secretary general Rep. Albee Benitez said  another Indonesian coach, who  is “of the same caliber as coach Rexy,’’  is being eyed by the association and the prospective replacement is set to arrive tomorrow for “preliminary discussions.’’  “Coach Rexy is already a high caliber coach but there are other coaches,’’ said Benitez who just won a fresh mandate as congressman of the second district of Negros Occidental.   The replacement is reportedly Mainaky’s Olympic partner Ricky Subagja though Benitez refused to confirm this.  Marc Anthony Reyes
