Abap holds elections tomorrow at QCSC

/ 01:58 AM May 30, 2013

The Association of Boxing Alliances in the Philippines Inc. (Abap), formerly the Amateur Boxing Association of the Philippines, will hold its first General Assembly and Organizational Elections tomorrow at Quezon City Sports Club.

The new Abap has been officially recognized by Aiba, the Philippine Olympic Committee and the Philippine Sports Commission. It is duly registered in the Securities and Exchange Commission.

For the past four years, Abap has been headed by businessman-sportsman Manuel V. Pangilinan as chair and Maynilad Water chief executive Ricky Vargas as president.

“If we are to continue our involvement in boxing, we need to make sure the stakeholders themselves want us there,” said Vargas. And the best way to determine that is to go through the election process. We want our leadership validated.”
