UP, EAC seek big Filoil finish

/ 10:16 PM May 30, 2013

University of the Philippines and Emilio Aguinaldo College hope to finish their preseason campaigns on a high note when they clash against separate rivals in the Filoil Flying V Hands Premier Cup.

The Maroons clash with winless Perpetual Help at 4 p.m., after the duel pitting EAC and University of Santo Tomas. Jose Rizal U collides with a Far Eastern U team still reeling from a shock loss to St. Benilde last week.

The Maroons go into the game buoyed by their 75-63 win over the Bombers. With eight new players in the squad, coach Ricky Dandan has his hands full mixing up the lineup. “It’s a learning experience for us and we are learning a lot. We will put this to good use come the UAAP,” said Dandan.

The Tigers, who last outlasted Lyceum, 93-86, will be using the game as warm-up for the quarterfinals.

The Tamaraws, hoping to bounce back from the 74-81 loss to the Blazers, will be without third year center Russell Escoto, who suffered a knee injury during a D-League match and possibly guard Terrence Romeo, who has been placed on indefinite suspension for clashes with the coaching staff.  Cedelf P.
