The Duel: Juvic, Que banner North
The North squad now have all the stars they need to get back at the South when the two sides clash in the Ryder Cup-style The Duel unfolding June 5 at exclusive Ayala Alabang in Muntinlupa.
International campaigners Angelo Que and Juvic Pagunsan have made themselves available for the second staging of the event, with Que to skipper the North squad itching to avenge a 12-16 loss last year.
“I think we have a great chance this year,” Que said. “Everyone in the team is highly motivated to get back at them.”
Article continues after this advertisementWith Que and Pagunsan, the North seems to be a very formidable squad in the three-day event which will feature foursomes (alternate shot) and fourball (best ball) of four matches each in the first two days.
The highlight 12 singles matches will be played on the final day with the first team to amass 14.5 points clinching the Duel crown.
The North held a 9-7 lead going into last year’s singles where the South won all but three matches to wrap up the crown in convincing manner.
Article continues after this advertisement“Juvic is playing and that should be interesting,” said Que, referring to the former Asian Tour No. 1 who made himself available for the event organized by Pilipinas Golf Tournaments Inc. and backed by KIA, Ping, Nike Golf, Custom Clubmakers, Mizuno, Pacsports, Callaway, Cleveland, FootJoy, Srixon, Titleist, Empire Golf and Sports Shop and Sharp.
Completing the North are Sherwood Hills champion Miguel Tabuena, veteran Asian Tour campaigner Mars Pucay, former Philippine Open champion Gerald Rosales, Michael Bibat, Carl Santos-Ocampo, Ryan Lam, Jun Bernis, Benjie Magada, Joenard Rates, Randy Garalde and Edward Reyes.
Antonio Lascuña, the Order of Merit winner last year, banners the South team which also has Jay Bayron and former Philippine Open winner Elmer Salvador.
