MANILA—It will be a wide open race for the senior basketball and volleyball titles as 16 schools begin their campaign Saturday in the 42nd WNCAA season at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
Host Rizal Technological U, last season’s overall senior champion, kicks off its bid against Centro Escolar at 12:30 p.m.
Poveda and St. Paul Pasig’s midget teams collide at 2 p.m. while St. Scholastica and San Beda Alabang meet in another senior tussle at 3:30 p.m.
Perennial champion Lyceum, College of St. Benilde and La Consolacion Manila are skipping the 42nd season, citing failure to complete their basketball and volleyball teams.
“Despite the absence of three schools, followers of the WNCAA can still expect exciting matches from the 16 active schools,” said WNCAA president Vivian Manila of St. Scholastica.
