MANILA, Philippines — Arellano University swingman James Forrester will be out for at least three weeks due to a sprained left knee.

Forrester sat on the far end of his team’s bench in street clothes as the Chiefs lost to University of Santo Tomas, 73-83, Monday in their quarterfinals match of the Filoil Flying V Hanes Premier Cup.

“The knee is doing good. Luckily, it’s nothing major like an MCL or ACL, it’s just a small meniscus tear and it should be healing on its own without surgery in the next three weeks to a month,” the Fil-Canadian Forrester said.

The graduating Forrester is expected to have a breakout year in the coming NCAA, which opens on June 22, and surely he wouldn’t want to start the season relegated as a cheerleader.

“Definitely. I should be ready [come NCAA] and even stronger than I was in Filoil. I just want to be patient with it and make sure I’m 110% percent.”

“All throughout Filoil we learned a lot about ourselves, about the team and our roles. Although we came up short there’s still a lot of positives that came out of this tournament.”
