FOUR MINDANAO teams opened their bids for the last zonal berth in the 2010 Philippine Collegiate Champions League on Wednesday at the Xavier University Gym in Cagayan de Oro City.
Ago-Industrial Foundation College (Davao City), Ramon Magsaysay Memorial College (General Santos City), Southern City College (Zamboanga City) and Liceo de Cagayan University (Cagayan de Oro) are fighting for the right to join the Visayas-Mindanao zonals slated on Nov. 14 to 17 at the Cebu City Coliseum.
University of Perpetual Help Biñan recently completed the 12-team cast in the Luzon-Metro zonals that also includes UAAP’s University of the East and National University and NCAA’s Letran and Arellano.
University of Iloilo, Southwestern U and University of San Carlos clinched the first three slots in the Visayas-Mindanao zonals.
The top six teams in the zonal phase will advance to the Sweet 16, where three-time UAAP champion Ateneo and NCAA titlist San Beda have earned outright berths in the nationwide competition featuring top collegiate squads.
Also securing Sweet 16 slots were UAAP teams Far Eastern U, La Salle and Adamson, NCAA squads San Sebastian, Jose Rizal University and Mapua, and Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc.’s (Cesafi) University of Cebu and University of Visayas.
