PH Spikers get beating from host Vietnam in SEA volley tilt

MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine team got a sound beating in its opening match in the FIVB Women’s Volleyball Southeast Asia zone qualifiers Friday night (Manila time) in Quang Tri, Vietnam.

The V-League selection yielded to host and perennial contender Vietnam, 9-25, 11-25, 18-25.

Ateneo’s Alyssa Valdez, sisters Jaja and Dindin Santiago from National University spearhead the squad formed at the last-minute due to pullout of the Philippine Volleyball Federation from the tournament.

The Filpino volleybelles try to bounce back against Myanmar on Saturday night.

The top team of the tournament earns a chance to compete in the main Asian qualifiers later in the year.
