San Beda nips St. Benilde in NCAA game opener

MANILA, Philippines — Defending champion San Beda escaped St. Benilde, 71-70, on a game winning basket by Art dela Cruz in the opener of the 89th NCAA Season at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City Saturday.

Dela Cruz sank the go-ahed basket off the inbound lob pass from Rome Dela Rosa with 3.4 seconds left.
