Lucena, Baguio riders dominate second leg of Cobra drink’s BMX events

MANILA, Philippines – Lucena and Baguio riders dominated the second leg of the BMX events in the recently concluded Cobra Energy Drink-Urge Ride Rules Tour at the Starmall Las Pinas last June 15.

Jose Buisan of Lucena bested other BMX Stunt flatlanders, impressing the judges with his mega spins and rolling tricks. Negros Occidental Representative Paolo Gepolango of Bacolod City took second place while Mac Andrei Magbuhos took third.

BMX Street veteran Daniel Garcia of Team Enemy from Baguio City whose perfect 360 floater and Bar Spins has made him one of the favorites to win the grand finals took first in the BMX Street contest.

Taking second was another Ilonggo from Bacolod City Negros Occidental, Tzuko Benaban who landed a bunny hop 360-bar spin. Hermes Rakes of Team Parugang from Angeles City Pampanga placed third.

Alben Santos took his BMX experience to the MTB Box Jump Contest, taking first with his version of the backflip and some 360 big airs and beating Max Galsim, who executed a 360-1 hander and Morgan Trick. Alvin Dacanay placed third in the same event.

James Lang of Team Lang from Pasig City finished first in the BMX Box Jump Contest with a variety of moves like the Backside Can-Can, 360 Table Top and 360 Tailwhip. Noli Baga from Team Parugang of Angeles City took second, impressing the crowd with his Superman Big Air, while Hanry Chan from Navotos, last year’s leg champion, took third.

This is the first time that there were no top three winners from the National Capital Region (NCR).

In the BMX Street beginners’ category, Jimlo Fernandez won first place, Migz Lang, second, and Benjo Segura, third while Hermes Rakes bagged first in the BMX Box Jump, with Joshua Rolodan at second and Ed Siapno in third place.

The event was presented by Cobra Energy Drink, considered the country’s no. 1 energy drink and proud supporter of world-class Filipino talents and events that bring out the best qualities of the Filipino and Urge Events “We Create, We Moved”.
