MANILA, Philippines – Arellano University rebounded from its opening game loss with a hard-fought 68-60 win over Lyceum Saturday in the NCAA Season 89 men’s basketball tournament at the Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.
“We’re back. What a relief. The pressure of being tagged as a team to watch is different,” said AU coach Koy Banal, whose squad bounced back after dropping its first game, 76-78, last Thursday.
Backup guard Jiovani Jalalon led the Chiefs with 13 points.
The Chiefs needed to hold off the Pirates, who threatened to duplicate its 70-66 stunner over San Beda in the opener after battling back from a double-digit deficit.
