Dumandan leads Mimosa golf field
Marvin Dumandan, back in form after a long slump, guns to win a second straight ICTSI tour leg when the Mimosa Challenge tees off Wednesday at the complex’s up-and-down layout in Clark, Pampanga.
Coming off ego-boosting performances the last two months, including a victory at the Royal Northwoods stop in Bulacan, Dumandan is the logical pick to rule 54-hole event and do what no one has ever done in the young circuit.
No player has won back-to-back legs in the circuit sponsored by ICTSI and organized by the Pilipinas Golf Tournaments, and the road couldn’t be smoother for Dumandan with most of the big guns not playing this week.
Juvic Pagunsan, Angelo Que, Mars Pucay, Antonio Lascuña and Artemio Murakami will be playing in the Singapore Barclays championship, leaving Dumandan and a handful of others as the players to watch here.
“Putting will be the key here. The greens have become tougher because of the rain the last few days,” Dumandan, who also won the season’s inaugural Sherwood Hills leg, said.
Cassius Casas, the former Philippine Open winner who skipped the last two legs of the circuit after winning at Del Monte, is among the players to watch.
