ROGER Denolo hurdled the challenge of foreign rivals while local bets placed 1-2 in the women’s division of the recent Vaseline Xterra Mud Run at Filinvest City in Alabang, Muntinlupa.
Denolo clocked 40 minutes and 1 second to outkick Jackson Chirchir of Kenya by a mere 4 seconds (40:05) and Canadian triathlete Mathieu O-Halloran (43:07) in the race that included obstacles like log jam, tight-rope crossing and mud crawling.
Janette Lumidao ruled the distaff side in 49:59, followed by triathlete Joyette Jopson (57:30) and Briton Carly Relf (1:00.44).
Michael Bacong triumphed in the 5K race in 22:18, with Angelo Gonzalo (24:40) and Ronald Salgado (25:52) claiming second and third, respectively. Ems Nills topped the women’s 5K in 33:26, followed by Andrea Calleja (34:42) and Marit Balagtas (34:45).
