Super Liga volley fires off Sunday; top exec coming
EXPECT volleyball darlings Gretchen Ho and Michelle Gumabao to bring the same talent and charm to the game when the Philippine Super Liga unfolds this Sunday at Philsports Arena in Pasig.
Ho and Gumabao banner former collegiate aces seeing action in the country’s first volleyball club league, which will be launched by Shanrit Wongprasert, an executive vice president of the Asian Volleyball Confederation.
“Among Mr. Wongprasert’s objectives is to observe the gains made by the collegiate leagues,” said Ramon “Tats” Suzara, PSL president and chair of the AVC marketing committee.
Article continues after this advertisementHo’s former Ateneo teammate Fille Cainglet, Gumabao’s fellow La Salle alumni Jacqueline Alarca and Stephanie Mercado and former University of Santo Tomas stars Mary Jean Balse, Angeli Tabaquero and Venus Bernal have also signed up for the tournament.
The league will feature six teams—Cignal, Petron, PLDT, Cagayan, PCSO-Bingo Milyonaryo and the Philippine Army—that will clash in a single round-robin eliminations. Jasmine W. Payo
